What type of church is College Park First?

We are a United Methodist Church, part of a global denomination whose mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We are a part of the Atlanta-College Park District of the North Georgia Annual Conference of the UMC. College Park First United Methodist Church was founded in 1894.

What is worship like?

We offer a traditional worship service at 11 am in our Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. While the worship is traditional in the sense of singing hymns and using some of the traditional liturgies of the United Methodist Church, we offer contemporary, relevant preaching, and a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to come as you are.

How do I get there?

We are located at the corner of Harvard Ave and East Main Street in College Park, Georgia, just one block north of the College Park MARTA station and across the train tracks from the old depot. If you drive, you can park in the lot right across Harvard Ave, or if you need an accessible entrance with an elevator, you can park in the handicap parking area just north of the Sanctuary on East Main Street.

Can my kids come?

Children are always welcome at CPFUMC! You are welcome to have your kids in worship with you. We provide “busy bags” in the main Sanctuary entrance (on E Main St) to help keep their hands occupied, as well as weekly children’s bulletins. There is also a children’s moment during the service. For little ones (infants and toddlers through age 3), we have a nursery during the service.

Do you celebrate communion?

We generally celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. The communion table of the United Methodist Church is an open table. You do not have to be a member of the church to partake. Our communion bread is gluten, egg, and dairy free.
