In September of 1894, Manchester Methodist Church was organized with 32 charter members, led by Rev. J.G.W. Watkins. Originally meeting in a home, the congregation moved to a frame church built on the corner of John Wesley in 1895 and was soon renamed College Park Methodist Church. In 1904, the building was moved to its current location, and in 1924 a new brick building was built which included a new sanctuary with 10 stained glass windows along the sides. The sanctuary was expanded in 1955, which offered the opportunity to add 13 more windows, 8 in the transepts, one in the choir loft, and 4 in the newly-added chapel.
The stained glass windows of College Park were made by the Llorens Stained Glass studio. The windows in the sanctuary depict scenes from the life of Jesus, from the visit of the angel to Mary all the way to Jesus’ ascension into heaven. The four windows in the chapel depict the four gospels.
We hope you’ll come worship with us and experience the stories these beautiful windows tell.
